The staff’s utter negligence turned our stay into a harrowing experience that nearly cost me my life!! Hotel restaurant waiter brought a dish of prosciutto with greens, orange, and caramel. I took a bite, only to feel the unmistakable signs of an allergic reaction. In a panic, we questioned the waiter, who nonchalantly revealed the presence of walnut cream in the dish. We rushed to the emergency room, narrowly escaping a fatal anaphylactic shock. The complete disregard for my well-being by the staff at Sunrose is beyond disappointing—it's inhumane. Never in my life have I encountered such callousness and incompetence from people who are supposed to ensure their guests' safety and comfort. Their lack of empathy and basic understanding of food allergies is shocking.
Read their response to my girlfriend to see the neglect and lack of empathy firsthand. The way they dismissed our legitimate concerns and trauma is appalling. They even had the audacity to compare bringing cigarettes to a meal to serving an allergen that could have killed me. A Beautiful Hotel Ruined by Negligent and Incompetent Staff – A Near-Death Experience at Sunrose 7
We chose Sunrose for its reputation as a peaceful escape where we could relax and forget about the stresses of real life. And indeed, Sunrose excels in providing a tranquil environment, earning a full 5/5 stars for its ambiance and location. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the staff, whose negligence and incompetence not only ruined our stay but also endangered my boyfriend's life.
Upon check-in, we immediately informed the receptionist, Ms. Ajda, about my boyfriend's severe food allergies, emphasizing the life-threatening nature of his condition. We specifically detailed his allergies, including nuts and beans, and stressed the importance of knowing every ingredient in his meals. Ms. Ajda assured us she was taking note of everything.
When we made our dinner reservation, we reiterated these allergies to Ms. Ajda and her colleague, again stressing the critical importance of avoiding allergens. They appeared to take our concerns seriously, making notes as we spoke. Despite these precautions, the kitchen's first offering contained lentils, which we informed them about twice before consumption.
However, the situation took a drastic turn for the worse with the next course. The waiter served us a dish featuring prosciutto with greens, orange, and caramel. No walnuts! After my boyfriend took a bite, he immediately felt the onset of an allergic reaction. Upon questioning, the waiter casually revealed that the dish contained walnut cream – a severe allergen for my boyfriend. We rushed to the emergency room, narrowly avoiding a potentially fatal anaphylactic shock.
The indifference and incompetence displayed by the Sunrose staff did not end there. Upon our return from the ER, we were treated with disdain, as if our legitimate concerns and life-threatening ordeal were mere inconveniences. We requested to postpone our dinner and have a safer meal prepared, which they grudgingly accommodated. However, the experience was far from enjoyable as I grappled with the horrifying thought of losing my boyfriend due to the staff's gross negligence.
The final blow came the next morning when I attempted to discuss the matter with the manager. Instead of an apology or any semblance of empathy, I was met with increasing rudeness and defensiveness. Our concerns were dismissed, and we were ultimately thrown out of the hotel for insisting that my boyfriend's life was recklessly endangered due to their failure to adhere to basic allergy protocols.
To add insult to injury, we had to pay a medical bill of €130, which the hotel refused to refund. The beautiful setting of Sunrose is overshadowed by the appalling behavior and utter lack of professionalism of its staff. I strongly advise against staying at Sunrose until they address these severe issues and replace their staff with individuals who understand and respect the seriousness of food allergies and customer safety.

- Pretty expensive especially because you cannot use the facilities (spa). I’ve never been to a hotel that doesn’t allow guest to use facilities….very odd. Yes there is the option to use one of the road, this feels like a public facility and not very nice. The pool is nice but the constant echos of screaming children was unbearable
- No tea & coffee making facilities in room
Room had a rather unpleasant mouldy smell
- At dinner we asked for tap water given that Slovenia has the best tap water in Europe. We were outraged to be told that we couldn’t have it but had to pay an extortionate price for little bottles. Just ridiculous
We enjoyed our stay but not because of the hotel, if was the surrounding area. The views, the small village & Lake Bohinj are just lovely. Quite honestly I would stay somewhere else than a spa hotel where you cannot use the spa.

Cons
- Pretty expensive especially because you cannot use the facilities (spa). I’ve never been to a hotel that doesn’t allow guest to use facilities….very odd. Yes there is the option to use one of the road, this feels like a public facility and not very nice. The pool is nice but the constant echos of screaming children was unbearable
- No tea & coffee making facilities in room
Room had a rather unpleasant mouldy smell
- At dinner we asked for tap water given that Slovenia has the best tap water in Europe. We were outraged to be told that we couldn’t have it but had to pay an extortionate price for little bottles. Just ridiculous
We enjoyed our stay but not because of the hotel, if was the surrounding area. The views, the small village & Lake Bohinj are just lovely. Quite honestly I would stay somewhere else than a spa hotel where you cannot use the spa.

Bon hôtel et restaurant remarquable
L’accueil est excellent dans cet hôtel calme et moderne.
Il faut surtout y aller pour son restaurant exceptionnel. Qui mériterait une étoile Michelin.
Les plats sont variés, raffinés et très bien présentés.
Les vins locaux proposés sont parfaitement adaptés.
Le petit déjeuner est également de très bonne qualité, le même chef étant aux fourneaux.

Gaumenfreude trifft auf Boutiquehotel
Das Sunrose 7 hat all unsere Erwartungen mehr als übertroffen. Eine phänomenal restaurierte Villa mit feinem Flair bietet wunderbare kulinarische Erlebnisse. Das junge Personal überzeugt mit authentischer Freundlichkeit. Nachhaltigkeit wird glaubhaft gelebt.
